DC Superior Court Grants Dismissal

On December 16, 2002 the Superior Court for the District of Columbia granted a dismissal of the lawsuit filed by the District against firearms manufacturers. The suit sought financial compensation for the economic impact of gun violence in the District of Columbia. In dismissing the suit, Judge Cheryl M. Long noted in her opinion that, "the various causes of action pleaded in this case are facially insufficient as a matter of law. In each instance, this is not a close question." The District of Columbia is expected to appeal.
